Why does my cursor flash/vanish all the time?

just recently, I have noticed my cursor flashig A LOT. it vanishes then reappears. It acts as though a page is loading...but nothing happens. This is getting annoying. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I get it to stop flashing so much?!!
