How do i reset my pc to factory settings?

my pc ( toshiba equium) is in a bit of a mess and running very slow and i have been told i can reset to factory settings and this will clear out all the garbage i know i will lose some stuff but i have saved to disc all that iwant to keep........... thanks in advance
